First SWRO project using 16" vessels chose BEL

With a capacity of 150 million cubic meters (39.6 trillion U.S. gallons) per year, Sorek is the first and largest seawater desalination plant in the world using the new breakthrough solution of the new 16" pressure vessels.

Sorek Desalination Ltd. is a joint venture between IDE Technologies and Hutchison Water.

BEL, a global leading manufacturer of composite made Pressure Vessels (membrane housings), announced last month that its subsidiary, BEL Composite industries Ltd, has been awarded a multimillion dollar contract to supply nearly 2,000 units of 16" Side Port Pressure Vessels for SOREK Sea Water Desalinations plant.

The high and low pressure 16" vessels with a Side Port configuration is already under production phase including unique features designed and implemented by BEL.
